the tether
that connects me
to this earth
is tied
to a fishing weight
horse-shoe shaped
dropped on the carpet
between my husband and my son
they can't see the thin silver string
looped
seductively
around
my ankle
how easy it would be
to give a good yank and
float
away

I like the similie. yes, fishing line is strong, yet fragile. you have displayed the unspoken tension that exists between partners when the art conversation has been forgotten.
I really dig the first stanza. I hate to make this comparison but it reminds me of google earth; you start in space and keep zooming in. By the time I got to "son" there was no air left in my lungs.
