Expectations

I'm not smart.
But I used to be,
I was
"exceptional"

I'm not beautiful
though
I've been told so
by strangers.

I can never sleep
because too much
is running a marathon
in my mind.

I've never not been strange,
everyone
hated my guts
in middle school.

I learned to be funny and
appeal to peoples senses;
just pretending...
It's what I'm good at.

I'm surrounded by expectations-
I like to
barely
meet them.
