For the love of Hermes

I must say that the past few weeks have flown by. The entirety of the college, work, and social juggling has felt like a roller coaster ride, except it is one where I'm expected to memorize what the ride is like, how long it took, and observes its passengers. Stressed? Hell yes I am.

I've recently entered into the field observation stage of the teacher certification program, so I spend 6 hours a week at a Junior high observing how my mentor teacher runs her class, and how the students act. I also help out around the classroom...answer questions, and talk to students after class as much as possible. That alone is fairly taxing to me because I really wanted to be placed in high school, and switching gears to a less matured audience is proving to be interesting. Still, the classrooms there fascinate me. Because it's junior high, one of the critical transitions age wise ( entering into adolescence), the students come in with an even wider range of ability than one would expect from a high school. There are some that really grasp the basic English concepts of the class.....things like word choice, and sentence structure, and how they interact to make reading interesting. Then there are others that simply aren't quite able to verbalize their thoughts in the way school wants them to. It will be an interesting set of observations.

In addition, I have a maxed out course load, and work for the newspaper. I'm still not sure how I'm going to manage to stay completely sane with all this going on, but I think I'll manage. Oh yes, and I recently got engaged, so I've got wedding planning to do. It's a huge plate for someone who is getting ready to graduate, get married, and move from a small town to a large city, and enter fresh into teaching there.

I really want to write more, but I have been so consumed by school work, and actually going to school that by the time I make it around to free time, I just don't have the motivation to be thinking. So I either go delve into a book, or play video games. I have a possible novel started, but it is going slowly just because of how many other things are going on.

Jeez, you never tell me anything do you? I would love to hear more about your students, how they act, how they write, how they learn, how they behave, which ones are your favs, which ones you dislike, and why.
