What Is Home?
10/5/08
What is home?
I have no sense of it now,
this ground does not grip my feet, begging
for me to stay
and make it my own.
I question whether I’ll find a place like that -
hard to leave for the right reasons
hard to ignore
whether right or wrong,
magnetic forces that stake their claim on heartstrings
whispering a sense of belonging.
For now
I make due,
I do enjoy
the novelty and challenges of a new place
the sugary sting of adjustment.
But it’s not home, I don’t think -
how would I know,
other than the fact that it doesn’t feel
like home.
