Together, Undisturbed
Alone within these walls I live, alone within these halls I give
My mind and heart and soul to you, I fall to ghostly whim
Even in death I see you walk, and even now I hear you talk
You speak of things secret to us and unbeknownst to them
I’ve sought the aid of doctors all, I’ve turned my lips to alcohol
And all have failed to fix what ails this solemn broken heart
Oh! To throw back hands of time, Oh! To mute the death toll’s chime
That sought to strike you down and separate us two apart
Between the veil of life and death, between my tired and failing breath
The thoughts to reunite with you once more now drown my soul
Perhaps there is a better place, perhaps between both time and space
That you and I shall fall embraced and love, once more, I’ll know
I ready battle with the fates, prepared to onslaught heaven’s gates
As darkness of the deepest void now beckons from the ground
While brandishing the dagger’s glare, I brandish tears to nightly air
And fall, with heavy heart, to read the headstone of your mound
My mind is set upon the task, my voice is quaking as I ask
Forgiveness of He, the very one, that robbed your earthly life
And now, with depth, I steady aim, and now, in death, we are the same
To roam forever’s path as one, exempt of living strife
The crimson trail upon the ground, the fading now of every sound
The fleeing of my soul encased in darkness, unperturbed
I find you standing by my side, I find my worries tossed aside
And now, again, forevermore… together, undisturbed.
