When I Met You

It all started when a girl named Kayla had her first day in 6th grade. It all started out perfect! This young girl, was finally happy. She was having the most fun in along time. She was growing up. She met a lot of new people, and one of those people was a guy named Luke.

Now Luke was a guy that was really gross, not in a bad way like a scrubby way. But not many people liked his sick mind and some people hated him. Now Kayla was going out with a guy named Thomas, and Luke was going out with a girl named Jenny. Kayla and her friend Haley told Jenny that Luke asked out another girl, which Kayla didn't intend to it to be serious, because she had no clue if it was true or not.

Jenny got really upset and broke up with Luke. Thomas then broke up with Kayla, she got really mad when she found out that Jenny was going out with Thomas. Now Kayla then asked Luke out, and they started to go out. They didn't know each other but I am sure they will get too.

They sat beside each other at lunch that day and they didn't really talk, they had nothing to say. Then after lunch they had started to talk a little more. Kayla found out that Luke was the perfect person for her. After a couple of weeks past by Luke and Kayla really became a great couple! Kayla was invited to her friend's party, Chelsea, Luke was invited too. They hung out most of the time but got into a fight about something really lame. Kayla wasabout to cry and I am very positive Luke was already crying. Her dad picked up Kayla when 10:00 ran around. Then when Kayla got home she cried for about 2-3 hours about Luke. When Monday came they talked about it and they became yet again the best couple. Lots of people commented on how great they were together.

Their school had a field trip coming up and they were going to see a play 'Cinderella'ť. Kayla loved field trips and she couldn't wait. Something happened though. Luke and Kayla weren't on the same bus so Kayla was really bored the whole way, even her friends couldn't make her have fun on the bus ride, the only person who could would have been Luke. When they got there it took a quite a while to find a seat where Luke and Kayla could sit beside eachother but they did. After the play they headed back to school. Now that months passed by Luke and Kayla became more and more a better couple.

Kayla was standing by her locker and a whole bunch of her friends came by, and started talking about her and Luke. Tiffany, Rachel, Kristin, Kate etc. Kayla didn't want to talk about it. 'When are you going to dump him?'ť Rachel asked about 10 times. I replied 'Now.'ť But I was just kidding. Before I could get it out of my mouth that I was every person beside my locker ran to Lule, I didn't think much of it. Then I finally realized that they told him I dumped him. He said that he figured that. I slid down by my locker, I felt like crying I put my head into my jacket and when the bell rang I didn't feel like getting up and getting to class. I had Mr. Grindle first so he would give me a break. He knew Luke and me were going out and he thought that we made a great couple. Even when he heard we broke up, he acted like he was having a heart attack. A couple of hours later I found out that Katie was going out Luke. I got really upset and cried inside. I ended up dating this Tom guy to get Luke mad, the rest of the 6th grade year that's what we did, make eachother jealous. When I tried to talk to him it wouldn't work, it's like I hurt him so bad that he didn't want anything to do with me.

He went out with Shayla, Melissa, Allison and Chelsea after Katie, the people he said he would never go out with when we were dating. Anyone else I asked? I felt really mad about all the people who went out with Luke. I tried my hardest to go out with Luke one more time before he moved to live with his mother. But it wasn't any use. He moved and then I missed him for 6 months and then in 7th grade rolled around he moved back 2-3 months into the year. I asked him out the minute he got back but he said no. I already knew that answer because he didn't know who I was again. After a couple of weeks later he went out with Sasha, this stupid new girl. We had a little fight at school just yelling but then like 1 week later they broke up. Then Chelsea went back out with him for 1 day and they split.

When we got out laptops we got e-mail and when we learned how to use it I looked up Luke instantly and luckily that day he was online so I e-mailed him. He e-mailed me back and we talked about last year, he said that he still had feelings for me but didn't think we could work. We became friends 7th grade year, but nothing else. I accepted that. 8th grade year we were a little bit of friends but I started to get sick of him, he was a dick to me a lot. 9th grade and 10th grade I could care fucking less about the kid. He's a cocky son of a bitch who I strongly dislike, he tries to talk to me a lot but I just pretty much tell him to fly.

Thinking of him since 6th grade sucked, I never expected to like someone that much when I was like 11 years old. I dated him for about a year in 6th grade and that was my longest realtionship. How fucked up is that? I still have feelings for him, unfortunately but I am slowly getting over them. I still have all the notes he wrote me back in the day'¦ heh heh. A lot of people say oh it was in 6th grade, who cares you were young. But if you date anyone for a year you tend to have feelings for them.

I liked the easy flow of the writing voice for this story. It imparted emotion without being to heavy handed and it made the point of view character very likable. This would be a great memoir voice. --Robert Barlow
