Graduated high school in the early '70s;
Yes, I am that old, but compliments to the contrary will get you kudo points;
Worked at horrible state jobs;
Went a little wild (yeah, like you didn't);
Got married;
Raised two sons;
Partnered in a very successful craft store;
Became a legal secretary;
Tuffed that out for 8 years, and I mean toughed;
See "Closing Argument" . . .
I've pencil sketched portaits;
Painted miniature scenes on tiny canvases;
Designed original patterns and created lace;
Got one pattern published in a mag;
(If you think breaking into print is hard, try breaking into that! My work was TOO intricate for the 'old lady' mags, but the upscale mags, who loved my work, only used inhouse artists. You gotta love the insanity!);
And now I'm writing (mostly about all of the above).
If I may take this opportunity . . . I've published 4 poems, a personal essay/memoir piece, and a flash fiction piece all in 2008. Rest assured, it's been mostly due to dumb luck. Now, back to our regular program.
To quote Gilda Radner -- "It's always something."
Another fave quote:
"We are here to awaken from the illusion of our separateness." -- Thich Nhat Hanh
By God -- finally a decent photo. Yep, it's a keeper.
*** Oh, and, A HEADS UP: I have zero tolerance for rudeness. Play nice or hit the bricks. ***
WLC's Genres: Nonfiction (sometimes disguised as fiction), personal essays, memoir, questionable humor, and the odd bit of poetry just for the hell of it.
