I write. I always have, but I am only just beginning to be able to say it without coming out in a rash.
I have a heavily academic background, having got three quarters of the way through a PhD in Renaissance French Literature before becoming too ill to be able to complete it.
Writing has played a large part in the slow process of getting back up on my feet, from keeping intermittent journals to scribbling poetry. I have spent the last two years doing a part-time MA in Creative Writing and Personal development and have reached the final crunch stage of writing the dissertation.
I am particularly interested in letters and diaries and am currently experimenting with writing an epistolary novel. I am also fascinated by the relationship between form and meaning and have been exploiting the containment imposed by the sonnet form to write about illness.
