Cathy was born October 27, 1956 at Scott A.F.B. outside of Belleville, Illinois, at which time Dwight D. Eisenhower, was the President of The United States of America, and the economy took a sharp rise after almost 30 years. Cathy’s parents divorced when she was very young, and her mother took on a job as a waitress at a local diner, and eventually remarried.
During her childhood, Cathy had the opportunity to travel with her family, relocating place-to-place, due to the military lifestyle, that is associated with the armed forces. In the mid 1960’s, Cathy accompanied her mother and younger sister, aboard a huge jumbo jet, which carried them over the Pacific Ocean to meet up with her stepfather, at his new duty station. The plane landed in Japan for refueling, then took off, heading for Clark A.F.B. in the Philippines, where they were finally reunited.
Cathy, along with her younger sister, mother and stepfather, lived in a compound, in the city of Manila and remembers, walking along the concrete walls that surrounded every home, and having to ride the bus to school. Each bus had a cartoon character imprinted on its side; this was to help with the confusion of which bus to take. In the later part of the 1960’s Cathy accompanied her family back to the States, when they were notified, about the sudden death of numerous family members, who were involved in a head on collision with a drunk driver, who was driving at a high rate of speed, on the wrong side of the interstate, killing them all instantly.
Cathy, being a military dependent, experienced the direct impact, of constantly making new friends to replace the old ones she had lost, as she followed her family to different duty stations, attending schools near the base, attempting to socialize with her peers, as she waited for the next move. After 20 years of service, her stepfather retired from the Air Force, moving one last time, taking her younger sister with them, as she stayed behind with her new husband, and giving birth to her son David. Within a few years, she divorced and moved closer to her family and got a job at the Adult Education Center as a teacher’s aid, where she met her second husband, Arthur.
She gave birth to two girls, Tanya and Victoria and they stayed in Arkansas, making this their home. Her husband is a retired auto mechanic of 30 years and they both have a passion for automobiles. In the later part of the 1990’s, Cathy won her first trophy, for third place, racing at Crawford County Speedway, in their 1978 firebird. During her lifetime, Cathy has written several books, mainly for enjoyment, and then one day, she decided to submit one of her books, and after receiving a phone call from the publisher, she was excited to hear, they wanted to publish it. Cathy is awaiting the upcoming release of her new book, “The Key”.
