I'm not the autobiographical sort, and these things are always hard for me. I was raised in Oklahoma and Texas (between Dallas and Tulsa), and I've had the opportunity to see both oceans in my short twenty-one years... I found I like the Atlantic better, so I planted my hooks in Virginia.
Poetry seems more like a popularity competition than an expression of emotion these days. And as for all those manuscripts I've written--the rest of the world wants sales, and I just want to tell an interesting story. My work isn't for you, it's for a select few. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't, in the end it doesn't bother me one bit.
