Born in Brooklyn, grew up in South Florida, in a community that was destroyed by hurricane Andrew... Naranja Lakes. Floated on the lake frequently and fantasized about where I’d be headed. As a child, I'd cut up sheets, pillow cases and clothes to create couture (that's what I thought) runway garments. At the University of Florida, I bumped into post-modern literature and believed in climbing the edges of the box, rocket-zilla any time my mind and soul would let go of ...
Did some European and Central American traveling, studied fine art, was a production artist for Eagle Concepts Sculpture and managed the paint department. While doing my University of Florida Internship, I landed a job at Universal Studios, painting glass objects. I enjoyed the Zen quality of my job. I begged the glassblowers, repeatedly until one compassionate lampworker (glass torch worker) named Lucy let me on the torch for fifteen exhilarating minutes. Glassblowing became my passion, it was mine and it had me. Love @ first molten melt. I'd dream of the molten material, the glow of the flame, getting lost in the flow of the molecules. Studied with Susan Gott, MFA Glass Art/Sculpture. (Phoenix Rising Studios, Tampa, FL )
Moved out West, got a fine gift from Pratt Fine Art Center and starting making art. Became productive in my creations, established a creative network of friends and sold a significant percentage of my completed work. I left Seattle to spend the last wonderful 18 months with my best friend Jennifer Pickman before she passed.
Following her death, I moved back to Seattle, gave birth two beautiful daughters and have purchased my first mobile glass blowing studio.
I have always woven my words and thoughts into visual art endeavors.
Writing is my need; it is part of what keeps me alive, I need it as I need to
breath. It has kept me company and been my true, loyal companion for my adult life.
