I grew up in Chicago and to this day, I call it my home town. I put myself through college as a professional musician, playing the bass guitar in blues and jazz-fusion bands. I received a BA in Zoology from DePauw University in 1974 and followed that with a Ph.D. in medical microbiology from Loyola University School of Medicine. I post-doc'd at the University of Illinois Medical Center for 3 years. I started my professional career at Pharmacia in Milwaukee as a Molecular Biologist. In 1984, I joined the World Health Organization and joined the faculty of Kuwait University Medical School working and directing the Poliovirus eradication program. I learned to speak arabic fluently while I was there although today, I'm a bit rusty. Came back to the U.S. in 1990, one month before the invasion and joined a biotechnology company in Boston. After five years, I moved to Madison WI where I founded a company, Third WAve Technologies and invented a diagnostic technology that is currently valued at $350 million-all I have to show for it are the plaques listing the patents :o). I burned out from all the travel after three years and became VP of Business Development for Applied Spectral Imaging. The travel didn't get any better so I left and in 1999 joined LI-COR Biosciences as the VP of Research. I've been here since then
I have three grown children and a wonderful wife of 32 years. She's my best friend and keeps my balanced.
Because of my science background, I like to write thrillers with supernatural and techno twists. My lead character is the Angel of Death who's been placed here to combat terrorism. The premise is that terrorist groups are not lead by humans, but rather demons and fallen angels.
My goals as a writer are to be entertaining. I simply want to tell a good story.
