I first got the writing bug when I was in the fifth grade. The assignment, write about the plastic jellyfish that we put together in art. It was made of a plastic bag and some ribbons, it was actually pretty cool. Mr. Cunningham said to write whatever we wanted. I came up with a story about pollution. I asked myself what would happen if I threw this thing out to sea. I wrote about a sea turtle's life under the sea. There were school's of fishes and bully sharks, remember this was back in 1989 before "Finding Nemo" and "A Shark's Tale". Mr. Cunningham absolutely loved it and said that he wanted to enter it into a city wide contest against not just the fifth grade but high school level kids, as well. He helped me edit the story and I entered it, I won and I had that storytelling bug ever since. I am now 26, I graduated from film school and am sitting on a bunch of screenplays and short stories. Will they ever get published? We'll see.
