Sara Johnson was born in New Haven, Connecticut and grew up in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a concentration in anthropology. In 1991 she moved to Barcelona, Spain where she lived until 2005 spending part of the year at her home in a small fishing village in Ceará in Northeastern Brazil. She currently writes fiction for children and adults and lives in Buenos, Aires, Argentina with her husband and two children. She recently published José and the Hen, a children's picture book in both Spanish and English with Mascardi & Nash in Buenos Aires.
