Anyone else have this problem: whenever i read any Jane Austin books i have this annoyingly poncy narators voice in my head that actaully bugs me so much i cant carry on reading the flippin books! (grr AND arg!)
Not only that, for some reason i have this irritating habit of havin a really obvious rhythm-y type silly voice in my head when i read rhyming poetry and it bugs the hell outta me. no fair! Makes it difficult to enjoy strait rhyme poems!
waah strop AND paddy! :o)
anyone else suffer from this lunacy? |

21/08/2007 | I'm afraid mine is a bit different, whenever i read books for long hours i can't seem to divert my attention to anything else. i feel drained, exhausted and sick, and that's what makes me stop reading for a while. but then i can't stop myself: i go again for a potter read for a hundredth time or something like that!
poor thing (me, that is)... |

21/08/2007 | What I do is try and change the accent of that 'voice in my head'.
Give it a broad Geordie accent. Or maybe a Brummie accent or American Deep South perhaps...
You'll find the book SAILS past. I did Jude The Obscure in a Geordie (Oz from Auf Weidersehen, Pet) accent and it was one of the more enjoyable experiences in my life.
Good luck.
ps. for our American cousins who might not know who Oz is or what a geordie accent sounds like - watch this!
(Caution! As always with Mr Oz, expect violence...)
