I was born in Willimantic, Connecticut and began writing at the age of thirteen. My earliest works include poetry, short stories, and a yet unpublished science fiction novel titled Vivis. My poetry has been received with some acclaim, including three first prize awards from the Windham Area Poetry Project in Connecticut. I have not been published yet, primarily because I rarely submit poems for publication. However, my first collection of poetry, titled "Rooms of An Ice Water Mansion," is available through online retailers and brick and mortar stores now (ISBN #978-1-4303-0875-1).
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Neuroscience from The University of Connecticut and published several journal abstracts before leaving scientific research to pursue writing and further education. I am presently earning a Master of Divinity from Andover-Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Massachusetts while completing work on a second book, a post-modern anti-romance in verse titled ??The Water,? to be published in February 2007. Thematically, my works run the gamut of aesthetic and philosophical ideas, from reflections on social justice and ideologies to the small spaces in the mind and soul that create the human experience ?? tragic and triumphant. I write for no other reason but the enterprise of truth-seeking, which I am convinced is a communal effort achieved through the creative act, the plain living of life, and the choice to make love supreme regardless of the persistent horrors of reality.
