I need help from others. I have manic-depression and consider myself the male Sylvia Plath - if only I was that talented! I joined writer's digest bookclub and am currently working on my semi-autobiograpy. I would like to publish a piece of fiction first. What I would like to know from others is what fiction to read that you find inspiring for writers. I joined this site the end of may, so any help would be appreciated.

I went to college and studied english literature and dramatic arts - I was serious about being a real actor, (running off to NY), but it never happened. The acting training helped when I was a waiter at Faneuil Hall in Boston. Even if you had emmense hatred for a customer and was out drinking all night you needed to appear as though you were as calm as a corpse.

I was a 411 operator for 16 years and when I left, (for they offered me a significant payment to leave), I then had a series of nervous breakdowns and have been in psych wards 4 times, the last one - one week ago. Thank God for my psychiatric team, and clonopin.

PLease leave me a message if you read this. I am still learning to use it!
