I am a 26-year-old Black female who has always enjoyed writing. Even as a child, I identified myself as a writer.
I will be an English major at Florida State University this upcoming fall semester and will be double minoring in Linguistics and Film Studies (whew!).
My goal as a writer is mainly to get out of my own way and just create. I am only just now trying to expand to different mediums besides poetry. The short story I am submitting for this site is the first one I have written in years.
It feels really good to be writing again, because I just came off of a really bad blocked period where I just wasn't writing anything at all.
I look at being published in the same way that actors look at winning an Oscar: it's a beautiful, hellish faraway idea. So, as of right at this moment, I write because I enjoy it and to be able to see where I've evolved from creatively.
