As a Korean adoptee I've struggled with a place to call home. Having visited and lived in various states I eventually made my way to the bay area and ultimately have found solace in my surroundings. Years later I have made peace with the fact that "home" for me is within my own skin, but the location can certainly affect one's identity. I've always written for myself without the intent to share outside of a few close friends. However, finding this forum has given me the courage to open the windows and make visible for the first time what has always been hidden. After reading so many talented pieces here and finding this community to be built upon trust, honesty and passion for writing, I find comfort in knowing that I will not be ridiculed, but critiqued, and that the heart and soul of this gathering is simply to share.
