Senior Information Officer Eric Rose currently works
at The Bahamas Information Services division of the
Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. In
this post, he performs the duty of a photojournalist,
staff writer and media consultant. Mr. Rose also
travels throughout the country and region covering
events as varied as meetings with world leaders to the
accomplishments of school children.
Most recently, Mr.
Rose traveled through The Bahamas capturing the
National Arts Festival as a photographer.
Mr. Rose was born in Nassau, The Bahamas, on August 2,
1974 to Doris McFall and the late Cecil Rose. He is a
graduate of Clark Atlanta University, where he
obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and the
Excellence in Journalism award from the Media Arts
Department. He also served as Editor-in-Chief of the
??CAU Panther? newspaper and was a senior Resident
Assistant for two consecutive years.
Upon his return to The Bahamas, Mr. Rose was a staff
reporter at ??The Tribune? newspaper, as well as a
photographer for the media house, and obtained the
post of Director of Communications at The Bahamas
Hotel Association. In 2000, he joined BIS as an
Information Officer.
Mr. Rose is also considered to be one of the finest
up-and-coming poets in The Bahamas, with membership in
the elite ??Millennium Poets.? He performed with
Koumbah Creativity for more than four years and feels
that it is one of the best outlets and training
grounds for Bahamian ??literary artistry.? From his
partnership with the event and his work as an editor,
he appears on television specials and radio programmes
with many of the nation??s premier poets. Most
recently, Mr. Rose worked with ??Express Yourself,? a
forum for poetic, dramatic, dance and musical arts.
Mr. Rose is also amateur actor, having performed at
the Dundas Centre for the Performing Arts and the
Martin Luther King Centre in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Rose
had the privilege of performing poetry at Government
House before both Bahamian Governor-General His
Excellency Sir Orville Turnquest and his successor
Governor-General Her Excellency Dame Ivy Dumont. He
also shared his work at the 2006 Carribean Festival of
the Arts, also known as Carifesta.
As an amateur digital music producer, Mr. Rose
produced tracks for radio commercials and local
television shows, with a number of the tracks breaking
into Sony??s AP Top 50 Chart.
He also was recognized with The Bahamas?? National
Youth Achievement Award in 1992 and the Caribfest
Award for Excellence in Literature in 1994.
Mr. Rose is married to the former Rachel Floyd and has
one son, Antonio Carlos.
