If I could choose to, I wouldn't write! I have always been compelled to write to quieten the non-stop mental chattering and commentary on life that fills my every waking moment. Many such scribbles have never seen light of day. Now though it is time for the Kraken to awake!!
I am hyper-critical of my own attempts at writing and welcome any constructive criticism. I don't take too well to praise though, so if all you are going to say is how wonderful it is, then I'll probably ignore it! Unless you say specifically why and which bits.
Likewise, with the work of others on this site if it's good I'll say so, if it needs work I'll make suggestions. Purely massaging the egos of others has little point and can do more to harm someone's development as a writer than carefully considered constructive criticism.IMO
