I blame my wanderlust on my family. From the time I was born until now, I don't think I've spent longer than 3 years living in any one place. I won my first writing award in 3rd grade, and from then on decided writing was going to be the way I made my living. It hasn't quite worked out that way.
I grew up in North Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, Germany (near Freiburg), and California. I attended Oakland Community College in Michigan, and Pasadena City College in California. I hoped eventually to transfer to a university like Berkley or UCLA and get my degree in English Literature. I wanted to be a teacher.
I became discouraged after a few lit classes because I wanted to analyze and interpret stories seriously, but the professors I had made it seem like anyone could come up with any explanation for a story and it would be still be valid, regardless of how ridiculous it was. I wanted to study something more solid.
At this point, I'm not in school though I intend to get back into it in the Fall of '07. July will mark the end of my first year in Phoenix.
