Born and raised in Canada by Dutch immigrants, Pete Botman took a gap year after graduating with an English Literature degree. He started traveling in Amsterdam, used his parentage to finangle himself a Dutch passport, leapfrogged the social housing waiting list by settling into a squat and earned himself a highschool English teaching degree. Nevertheless, he ended up as the English language section chief at a translation company. Six years and the threat of RSI caused a sudden career change to scuba diving instructor, which led Pete around the tropics to feed his sense of discovery and love of hot climates. He is currently flogging an adventure novel manuscript about a murder and corruption in the Maldives and writes the odd publicity blurbs in between guiding tourists around Amsterdam on bicycles.
