ABOUT FEMI OLAWOLE
His ancestral home is Nigeria in the western part of Africa. Although trained as an accountant, writing has always been his first passion. Between 1990 and 1995 therefore he resolved to sharpen his writing skill by working as a freelance journalist---specializing in business reporting. And he did contribute several thought-provoking reports, articles and essays to newspapers and magazines on the idiosyncrasies and extravagance of bankers in an industry noted for its elitism and conservatism.
In 1993, Olawole received the prestigious Nigerian Media Merit Award in the Business Reporting category. His winning entry was titled Sailing On Dark Waters, a special report that showcased the travails of entrepreneurs in their search for seed capital. It was published in the Business Concord of January 22, 1992.
In 2003, he had the honor to contribute an essay to the Fall edition of Chimera, the journal of the USA-Africa Institute. His essay was titled The Growth of Modern Africa: What Role for the African American?
And in March, 2004, Olawole was appointed to the Community Advisory Board of Delaware’s topmost newspaper, The News Journal. He is a resident of Wilmington, Delaware (United States).
