Tom Sykes was born at a very young age in Portsmouth, England in 1979. He grew up in southern France, Norwich and Portsmouth before attending the University of East Anglia. He has worked as a labourer, civil servant and co-manager of an independent recording studio and is now the compiler/editor of 'No Such Thing As A Free Ride?' a book of hitch-hiking stories published by Cassell Illustrated. The book was serialized in The London Times and named Observer Travel Book of the Month. He compiled and edited 'Fog In Channel...', a book about Britain's relationship with Europe due for publication by Friction in early 2006.
Tom's short stories have appeared in Lighthouse Magazine, Nocturne, Lunar Harvest, Jupiter SF, Spoiled Ink and Writerâ??s Muse magazine. His 'Ringroad to Immolation' was named named as one of 'the top online stories of 2004' by storySouth.
His hobbies include listening to dub reggae, dissenting politics, cricket and riverboat gambling.
