Shakura Leitner, was born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Her birth date, April 4Th, the same as Maya Angelou. She says that is where she received her inspiration to write came from having the same birth date as Ms. Angelou. Shakura started writing when she was just in the 7Th grade and her dedication continued throughout her childhood and adulthood. And because of her dedication she was inspired to put her all into her poetry book The Words Of My Soul of her most precious thoughts and feelings. She was inspired by mostly family, teachers and role models around her. Shakura's mother always encouraged her to do her best to follow her heart wherever it may lead her. She took kind to her mother's words and inspirations of others,pushing for success as if it were her last obstacle or challenge. This book is just one goal that Shakura has completed and it will definitely not be her last success.
