Shanea Patterson was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY by her mother, Abigail. Growing up with a twin sister and many brothers and sisters, including foster children, Shanea also grew up in the church. She joined the church choir at age 3 and began writing at the age of 6, though her first stories began to emerge by age 10.
After a drastic move from one school district to another in 7th grade, Shanea began writing novels as a way to cover up her fear and discomfort. She started out at a predominately white school and transferred to a predominately black school, triggering the feeling that she did not belong, in her new school.
As time went on, she began to fill up the pages of composition notebooks with story upon story, able to stack up piles of notebooks by the time she reached her senior year of high school. To date, she has had three articles published online on three different web sites. Her latest novel, entitled Whatever It Takes will soon be published.
While attending school full time, Shanea is working on the sequel to this book and another novel as well.
