Shannon Bates is a San Diego writer and musician who has featured as a reader of her own fiction and poetry at several venues throughout Southern California. She is currently pitching a novel called The Ugly House, while finishing the first draft of a new novel called Tambourine Girl. She also plays saxophone in an afrobeat/funk band called Society, and sits in with other bands in the San Diego area. She has played soccer for 28 years, played saxophone for 23 years, and written for as long as she can remember.
