Sherry Bryan is a writer, editor, avid reader, New Yorker, and daydreamer who loves of the power of words, the fine art of the perfect short story, a novel that stays with you for weeks, a good dirty martini, and, apparently, run-on sentences.
I have been published in a short story anthology, "Falling from the Sky" (Another Sky Press) as well as several magazines and periodicals. I worked as a magazine editor for the past 3 years and have written freelance for several publications. I've also done some dabbling. (Don't judge me) I've written a few plays that were produced, and written a few short films. But my love is narrative fiction. I just finished a first book of short stories, and I'm already at work on my first novel. I do freelance editorial work, am editing a novel, and drinking far too much coffee.
I live with my bulldog Duncan in Los Angeles, but I am moving back to New York this fall--a time when anything and everything seems possible.
I keep odd hours, love anything pulp or pin-up, think Raymond Carver's work is so powerful that it makes me weak in the knees, try to balance my vices with my virtues, can find the humor even in the darkest corners, collect interesting quotes or comments I overhear or read, and find inspiration in the people I know, the people I see, the people I imagine, and by trying to always pay attention to the details. Putting on a Nina Simone CD doesn't hurt, either.
