Being born in southeast Texas to a sixteen year old single mother did nothing to slow Stephen's momentum. If anything the transience of his early life fed his ambition to succeed. He began writing poetry at an early age. his first chapbook The Burning Boy achieved some small measure of notoriety. Stephen co-founded the non-profit company Panhandler Publishing, and is very active in the poetry community in and around Houston, Texas. He lives in Houston with his tarantula Attila and an odious atmosphere of unsettled discomfort.
