(a privately owned business) in compliance with The Data Protection

What data is collected from you?
editred.com collects data in several ways:
Newsletter: When you register for a newsletter, editred.com asks

Submissions: When you submit a piece of work to editred.com via
email, the email address from which that submission was sent and
any other email addresses volunteered in the body or attachments
of the email are stored by editred.com. In addition, any other personal
data volunteered in the body or attachments of the email may be

Web Logs: editred.com also records the user's IP address, operating

including, but not limited to, competitions, surveys and correspondence

Author Data:
Where users submitting work to editred.com volunteer biographical
data about themselves in emails relating to submissions, editred.com
will make this data available to the users of its Sites by publishing
it on a relevant Site page. Should the submitter request that this
biographical data be removed or withheld, editred.com will make
every reasonable attempt to comply with the submitter's wishes.
Submitters should note that, although data published on the webSite
can be removed from the webSite itself, editred.com has no control
over data that has been downloaded and stored locally by users of

Email Data:
Where users submit their email address to editred.com either through
our newsletter request form or by submitting a story, editred.com
will send the user, at the submitted address, our occasional newsletter.
Users may stop receiving this newsletter at any time by using the
online unsubscribe form or by emailing editred.com.

User Conduct
By using the services, users agree not to:

EditRED.com provides an online forum for users to discuss matters
related to writing, publishing and creativity. EditRED specifically
disclaims any responsibility or liability for any content in the
forum, and reserves the right to delete, move or edit content, in
whole or in part, submitted to the forum, that it, in its sole discretion,
deems abusive, defamatory, obscene, in violation of intellectual
property, privacy, or other proprietary rights, in violation or
these terms and conditions, or for any other reason. You agree that
by submitting content to a forum you will abide by the following
rules:
1. Exercise common sense and be considerate toward fellow EditRED
users. Diversity of opinion and intelligent civil discourse is encouraged;
by the same token, insults and “flaming” are not tolerated.
Disagreeing with an idea of another community member is not the
same as attacking that individual.
2. You alone are responsible for the material you post. You will
not knowingly post content or links to content that violates the
copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property right
of any third party and that you will remove the same should you
discover that you have violated this provision. Likewise, you may
not post content or links to content that is libelous, defamatory,
offensive, obscene, racist, abusive, that violates a third party's
right to privacy, that otherwise violates any applicable local,
state, national or international law, or that is otherwise inappropriate.
You will indemnify EditRED, its employees, agents, and affiliates
from any and all claims and/or damages (including but not limited
to reasonable attorneys' fees) resulting from any claim brought
by any third party relating to content you have posted.
3. It is important that members recognize the real-time nature of
these forums; the moderators cannot always monitor the contents
of posted messages. As such, we depend upon you to inform them when
members are violating our rules. If someone is harassing you, or
posting inappropriately, do not respond. Contact support at support@editred.com

4. EditRED reserves the right, but not the obligation, to monitor
the content of the forums to determine compliance with all sections
of this Agreement and any other operating rules established by us.
We shall have the right in our sole discretion to edit, refuse to
post, remove, or otherwise alter any material submitted to or posted
on the chats or forums. Without limiting the foregoing, we shall
have the right to remove any material that we, in our sole discretion,
find to be in violation of this agreement or inappropriate for any
reason whatever without consent.
5. Notwithstanding all of the foregoing, users remain solely responsible
for the content of their messages.
6. We further reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to reward
people who persistently abuse the forum with immediate deactivation
of their profile without notice. Further attempts will result in
our contacting your ISP with a complaint.
Submissions, Uploads & Copyright
Any writing members POST/UPLOAD on their own profile/upload
pages is not published or endorsed by EditRED. Members may only
post work they own the copyright to. Posting/Uploading your work
on Edit Red does not alter the original copyright in any way. Users
can delete their work at any time. Deleting work removes that content
from the Edit Red servers immediately.
When you upload your Work to EditRED, you will have the option of
whether to save your work as ‘Public’ (all all site
visitors can view the Work), ‘Private’ (only you will
be able to view the Work), or Reader or ‘Readers’ (only
users you have added to your reader list may view the Work).
By submitting (note: submitting is not the same as posting or uploading)
a story or a comment to Site publications and/or competitions of
the Site you agree to:
Grant editred.com a non-exclusive licence to publish the Work on
the Site. (First publication rights where stated.) You may terminate
prior to acceptance / contract signing. In the case of email, this
notice will be deemed to have been received on receipt of an electronic
confirmation of delivery to you by editred.com.
In the case of post, this notice will be deemed to have been received
five (5) business days after posting.
Copyright on the Work ALWAYS remains with the author of the
Work.
Warrant that:
The Work is original work, it has not been copied wholly or substantially
from any other work or material and publication by editred.com of
the Work on the Site/publications will not infringe the intellectual
property rights of any third party in anywhere in the world.
You are entitled to grant editred.com a non-exclusive licence to
publish the Work on the Site.
The Work contains nothing that is libelous, defamatory or indecent
or which infringes the statutory or common law rights of any third
parties in any part of the world.
Edit RED will not publish, in any form, any content unless the author
has signed an Edit Red publishing contract outlining clearly the
terms. If such a contract has not been signed, there is no bind
between author and Edit Red, or Edit Red and author.
Who is Edit Red and what is an Edit Red publication?
Currently, the Edit Red Editorial team consist of Alan
Emmins, Chris Ramsden,
Sean Merrigan,
Kelly Smith and
Jewels Johnson. If anybody with a different name approaches
you for a submission on this Site, they are not authorized to do
so and you submit to them at your own risk.
Books published or being published by Edit Red are easily found
in the 'Edit Red Publishing' section found in the main menu bar
or in the 'Writing Competitions' area also found in the main menu
bar. If it is not listed there it is not an Edit Red Publication
and you submit at your own risk.
Edit Red are not responsible for work you submit to unofficial publications
whether contact was originally made on editred.com or not. If you
are unsure about a submission solicitation you have received on

Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms of service shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance
with English law.
Serviceability:
If any part or parts of these terms of service are held to be legally
invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions of the terms
of service shall continue to apply with the offending part or parts
removed. Changes to These Terms of Service editred.com reserves
the right to change these terms of service and by accessing or using
the Site after such changes have been made, users agree to abide
by such changes.
Intellectual Property Content created by Edit Red staff and all
Edit Red created intellectual property rights (including, without
limitation, domain names, trade marks, copyright in the webSite
design and copyright in the images and graphics) associated with
such content belong to and shall remain the property of editred.com
and its licensors. You may use such content and intellectual property
in accordance with these terms of service, only to the extent necessary
to receive the Services.
